Shirley Ann Mhoon

Shirley Ann Mhoon was born November 18,1951 in Armorel, Arkansas to Charles Bates and Lacille Williams. She was raised in Blytheville and graduated from Harrison High School in 1969.

Shirley was the proud mother of four children: Andre Bates, Cedric Mhoon, Fredecia Mhoon, and Terry Mhoon. She later moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where she began building a life of her own.

A devoted woman of faith, Shirley was a member of Greater New Hope Church under the leadership of Pastor Luther Green, where she faithfully served on the Mother's Board. Professionally, she worked at JB Hunt for several years.

Shirley had a passion for fishing and found joy in spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling with her church family, creating lasting memories and deepening bonds within her community.

On May 6, 2025, Shirley peacefully departed this earthly life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lucille; her daughter, Fredecia Mhoon; her grandson, Ke'Trevian Gordon; her sister, Margie Newman; and her brother, Sonny Bates.

She leaves to cherished memories to her beloved sons: Andre Bates, Cedric Mhoon, and Terry Mhoon; her sisters: Carrie Jones (Charles) and Carmon Christian (Michael); her brothers: Joseph Bates (Beverly), Charles Bates (Rhonda), and Flóyd Jenkins Sr. (Lisa); and Crystal Irvin, someone very dear to her heart. She is also lovingly remembered by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives. church members, and friends.

Shirley's life was a testament to strength, love, and faith, and her legacy will continue to lie on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
