Marilyn Walker

Jul 3, 1956 — Sep 28, 2026

With great sadness, we announce the death of our mother, Marilyn Childress Walker. She was born July 3, 1956, the daughter of the Late Myrtle and Lincoln Childress Sr. She was raised in Newport, Arkansas and baptized at First Baptist Church under the late T.W. Barnes. She graduated from Newport High in 1974. At the age of 30, she moved to Little Rock, Ar. She worked several jobs including several years as a Sweeper Operator for the Arkansas Highway Department.

She was a positive, happy, kind and generous person who always tried to see the best in others. She was a great conversationalist and had a great sense of humor.

She loved reading and would always say “Reading will keep you out of trouble”. She also loved plants. Baking was her true passion. Her pecan pies, German chocolate cake, caramel cake and sweet potato pies kept repeat customers over the years. Most of all she loved God, her family and friends.

Those who went before her are her parents, Sisters-Helen Heard, Margaret Goode, Zelma Ward, and Josephie Brown. Her Brothers-John Townsend, Tommy Childress, Lincoln “Pete” Childress, and James “Leamond” Childress.

She leaves to mourn her passing: Son- Anthony L Childress Sr. (Lottie), Daughter- Audrea Childress Cutchin, Sister - Martha Alcorn, Grand Children-Anthony L Childress Jr., Antonio Childress Sr. (Dawn), Austin Cutchin and granddaughter- Siera Terry. Five Great-Grands-Amari Childress, Antonio Childress Jr., Acion Childress, Amazyn Childress and Dominic Gage. She leaves a host of Nieces, Nephews, Sister-Friends and bonus daughters and sons. We will miss her greatly but Thank God for the time we had with her on this earth.
