Leo Fred Jones was born on April 8, 1931, to Carrie Franklin and Willie Jones in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was raised by his grandmother, Rena Franklin, in the Sand Hill Addition. He peacefully transitioned on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
He worked in meat packing houses such as Heim Brothers, and his last job was with Rudy Farms as a truck driver. He was a joyful person, who kept people laughing, but he would also make them keep quiet when needed.
At 21 years old, Leo married Pearlie Slaughter, and took on her children as his own, Leroy and Joyce. To this union, the world was blessed with four other children. Later in life, he met and married Annie Bivens Washington welcomed her children Dimetrich and Tracy as his own.
He was baptized at the Lewis Street Church of Christ and was added to the Nina Street Church of Christ in Jacksonville, Arkansas, under the leadership of Brother Jodie Carter. He later united with the Lewis Street Church of Christ and served faithfully until his health began to decline.
He is survived by his loving wife, Annie; children: Willie Jones, Gracie Hinten, Diana Jones, Maria Jones, Dimetrich Washington (Dawn), Tracey Smalls (Jason), Ortha Dozier, David Ricks, Patricia Edmondson, and Cathey Ricks; his sweet grandbaby as he called her; his number one niece, Cynthia Ragland, who call him “Uncka Duka”, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and special sisters in love, Linda Carter, Nora Jones, and Georgette Jones.
