Larry Lamar Burnett Sr. was born on May 26, 1951, in Dermott, Arkansas, to Myles and Addie Lee Burnett. He was the seventh child born into a large and loving family of sixteen children.
On September 22, 2026, Larry departed this earthly life and was called home to be with the Lord.
At an early age, Larry confessed his hope in Christ, beginning a lifelong journey of faith and service to God. He was educated in the Dermott School District and graduated from Dermott High School. In 1971, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served briefly before returning to civilian life. As the years continued, his faith remained an important part of his life. On January 29, 1978, Larry answered the call to preach the Gospel. For more than four decades, he faithfully served the Lord and His people, holding numerous ministerial and pastoral positions and serving churches throughout his ministry. His life of service became a testimony to his faith and his commitment to sharing the Word of God with others.
On November 15, 1986, Larry was joined in holy matrimony to Evelyn Joann Morgan. Of all the roles Larry held throughout his life, being a father was among those he treasured most. He was blessed with five children: Shandalyn Nakia Plummer, Katishma Jonell Fells, Tarneisha Lashae Hasberry, Larry Jr., and Kalisha Burnett.
His love for family only deepened as he became a grandfather. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and nothing brought him greater happiness than seeing his family together, watching them grow, and sharing in their lives.
Beyond his family and ministry, Larry was beloved throughout his community. He possessed a warm and personable spirit and had a way of making people feel welcomed and valued. Friendly to everyone he met, Larry never considered anyone a stranger for very long. Whether from the pulpit, within his community, or simply through an everyday conversation, he had a genuine love for people that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Myles and Addie Lee Burnett, as well as three brothers, Freddie Burnett, Myles Burnett Jr., and Bobby Burnett; and three sisters, Ola B. Purifoy, Joyce Burnett, and Faye Beal.
Larry leaves a loving family to cherish his memory, beginning with his devoted wife of nearly forty years, Evelyn, who shared in the journey of his life, faith, and family. He also leaves his three grandchildren, Fulton Plummer, Lakeisha Burnett, and Elisha Burnett; his surviving siblings, Vera (Paul) Shelton, Kathy Burnett, Melvin Burnett, Benny (Stephanie) Burnett, Tony Burnett, Eula (Henry) Lemmitt, Rickey Burnett, Willie Earl Burnett, and Edward Burnett; along with a host of extended family, church family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his life.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
