Jori was born on March 1, 1983, to Phyllis Baker. She could read out of a newspaper before she started school thanks to her Aunt Annis Baker-Brown.
She graduated from Lucy Flower High School in Chicago and later attended Devry University for a number of years.
Jori kept the family tradition and worked at Wal-Mart for 12 years. She was extremely dedicated. Jori would get up each morning before 6:00 to go to work, traveling by bus and train. She is still loved and remembered by her Wal-Mart family.
Jori loved her family, sports, and game shows just like her Aunt Annis.
She was such a loving and caring daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her smile and laugh were infectious.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Archie & Malissa Baker; uncles: William Archie (Clarice) Baker, Kenneth Baker, Donald (Lucille) Baker, Foster Baker, and James (Alice) Baker; aunts: Lillian Bowman, Annis Brown, Bertha (Phillip) White, and Bettye Bedford.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother: Phyllis Baker of Chicago; her sisters: Chemetha Baker and Crystal Baker-Patterson of Chicago; her niece: Le’Aja Holloway of Chicago; her uncles: Marshall (Adelle) Baker, Vincent (Allyson) Baker, Mark (Altamese) Baker; her aunts: Emma (James) Johnson, Virginia Hurtt, Velta Baker, Dorothy Berry; countless cousins, and her beloved Wal-Mart #5645.
The celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 27. 2024 at 2:30pm at Centennial Baptist Church, 309 NE Second Street, Kensett, Arkansas. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8pm at Powell Funeral Home, 2602 Beebe Capps Expressway in Searcy, Arkansas.
