Joann Haltiwanger Hargro

JoAnn Haltiwanger Hargro was born on April 15, 1955, to the union of the late

Vernon Dubois Haltiwanger, Sr. and OV Dorn Haltiwanger in Pine Bluff, Arkansas (AR)

and was the youngest and only girl among 3 children. She accepted Christ as her

personal Saviour at an early age as a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ

in Pine Bluff, AR.

JoAnn graduated from Dollarway High School in Pine Bluff, AR in 1973. Shortly

afterwards, she moved to Little Rock, AR where she graduated from Capital City

Business College. She was employed with Southwestern Bell (AT&T) for 30 years until

retirement. JoAnn married Everette Hargro, Jr. on May 17, 1981, and gave birth to her

son, Orren Vincent Hargro, on September 28, 1988. She was an active person who

played softball and participated in bowling leagues when she was able. An avid Dallas

Cowboys football fan, she also loved fishing believing the fish trembled when they heard

her name. Most of all she enjoyed talking and being with friends and family.

JoAnn joined Emmanuel Baptist Church of Little Rock, AR under the leadership

of Rev. Al B. Morgan where she was a devoted and active believer who consistently

supported her church family and community through regular attendance, selfless

service, and a willingness to live by God’s word. She began each day by thanking God,

studying a daily verse from her bible and believed that every day was a blessing as it

was a day never seen before and never to be seen again. She was always eager to

greet you with a big smile and a big hug as she believed sharing joy and happiness

works like a candle: Hundreds of candles can be lit from a single lit candle, and yet the

light of the one candle will not be shortened.

JoAnn transitioned from this life on September 19, 2026. She is preceded in

death by her parents: Vernon Dubois Haltiwanger, Sr. and OV Dorn Haltiwanger;

brothers: Vernon Dubois Haltiwanger, Jr. and Wilson Douglas Haltiwanger; and former

husband: Everette Hargro, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, sons: Orren (Amber) Hargro and William

Hargro; daughter: Krishna Hargro; grandchildren: Everette “Tae” Hargro, Jakari Bailey,

Jalen Bailey, Jania Bailey, and Zetuan Hargro all of Little Rock, AR; close cousins:

Beverly Anderson of North Little Rock, AR and Vivian (Perry) Stuckey of Little Rock, AR;

close friends: Cynthia Walker and Greg Sanford both of Little Rock, AR; and a host of

other family and friends.
