James Edward "Jim" Johnson

James Edward Johnson, “Jim”, was born August 21, 1941, in Pulaski County, Arkansas to George and Earnestine Johnson. He accepted Christ at an early age, and he served as a faithful member at St. Matthew Baptist Church until his health declined. He attended George Washington Carver High School. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Army. Jim and Helen Bryant Johnson were united in marriage for 59 years. He was employed with Chicopee, Baptist-Springhill and NLR School District which he Retired from all three. Jim was a hard working dedicated man, who loved his family.


Jim departed this life on Monday October 13, 2025. He was preceded in death; by his parents, George and Earnestine Johnson; children, Melissa Thompson and Carlos Johnson; siblings, Dorothy Hill, George Johnson, Georgia Dyer, Sarah Johnson, Juanita Stanley, Lenwood Johnson, Robert Johnson, Lieutenant Johnson and Mildred Johnson.


He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Helen Johnson; children, Gregory (Bridgette) Johnson, Maria (Curtland) Watson, Martina Jones; grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
