Gloria Ann Stenhouse

Jul 9, 1953 — Sep 21, 2026

Little Rock

Gloria Ann Thompson was born on July 9, 1953, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Eugene and Thelma Thompson. She was the eighth of thirteen children. At the age of 13, Gloria professed her hope in Christ at Zion Grove Baptist Church, beginning a lifelong journey of faith.

Gloria shared a special lifelong bond with her twin sister. Growing up, she was affectionately known as the “soft and quiet twin,” possessing a calm and gentle spirit that beautifully balanced their twin dynamic. Gloria graduated from Northeast High School in May of 1972 and married Hal Johnson on June 19, 1972. During their union, two children were born: Brandie Lashay Johnson, on September 10, 1975, and Hal “Pooh” Johnson, on February 10, 1980. Gloria loved and cherished her children dearly.

Throughout her working years, Gloria was employed by Timex, Teletype, Merico Bakery and Remington Arms where she demonstrated her strong work ethic and dedication.

In December 1994, Gloria’s life took a beautiful turn when a longtime friend introduced her to Jesse Stenhouse, who would become the love of her life. After dating and building a loving relationship, Gloria and Jesse were united in marriage on August 9, 1997. Through this union, Gloria gained three bonus children, Yolanda, Tishaun, and Ashley, whom she welcomed into her heart and loved as her own.

In December 2001, Gloria and Jesse stepped out together on a new journey and opened Stenhouse Learning Center. Gloria served as Director for 15 years, dedicating herself to caring for and nurturing children and serving families in the community. After many years of faithful service, Gloria and Jesse officially retired.

Gloria’s life was marked by her gentle spirit, love for family, faith, hard work, and service to others. From being the “soft and quiet twin” to a loving mother, wife, bonus mother, sister, aunt and caregiver to countless children and family members, Gloria leaves behind a beautiful legacy that will continue to live through the many lives she touched.
