Frank Tristan McKenzie

Frank Tristan McKenzie, born on October 16, 1982, in Pullman, Washington, and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. He passed away on May 13, 2025, at the age of 42.

He was born to Patrice D. Hurvey and the late Frank O. McKenzie. He was a 2001 graduate of Sylvan Hills High School.

Frank was the kind of person everyone could count on; whether you needed something repaired, a shared meal, or simply a listening ear. He had a gift for fixing things; not just with his hands, but with his heart. Always ready to help, Frank never hesitated to lend his time, tools, or kindness to anyone in need.

He especially loved working with children, and for many years served as a beloved member of the community at Episcopal Collegiate School, where he worked as a chef. His presence in the kitchen was more than culinary, it was a ministry of care, creativity, and connection. Students and staff alike knew they could count on Frank not just for a nourishing meal, but for a warm smile and genuine compassion. His real love was working on cars. He was a great mechanic and spent most of his free time under the hood of a car.

Frank’s legacy is one of quiet strength, steady love, and the kind of goodness that lives on in every life he touched.

Frank transitioned on May 13, 2025. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, father Frank O. McKenzie, niece Michela Williams and nephew Stephen Winfrey Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Patrice D. Hurvey, siblings; Lekiban Hurvey, Claren (Kenneth) Freeman, Diane Montez, and Kraven Smith, a special nephew; Kalon Hurvey, nieces; Kiya, Makenzie, Elisia, Shyanne, and Miracle. Nephews Ryan and Kaiden and a host of cousins, and close friends whom he considered family. All of whom will forever cherish his memory, his laughter, and the example he set in how to live with dependability, humility, and heart.
