She later earned a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education in 1997, followed by a Specialist in Education with a concentration in Administration and Curriculum.
She became a member of the Eta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Spring 1994. In 2023, she achieved Silver Star status and remained an active member of the Beta Pi Omega Chapter. Through her sorority, she gained a sisterhood that lasted a lifetime.

Dorie taught third grade for nine years in the North Little Rock School District. She then dedicated 18 years to the Arkansas Department of Education, where she served in various roles, including curriculum specialist, assessment specialist, standards for accreditation specialist, and director of public charter schools. Her love for children and passion for education were evident throughout her life, as she devoted herself to caring, encouraging, and advocating for students both inside and outside the classroom.
Dorie departed this life on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. She will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering support for others, her joyful laughter, and her willingness always to lend a helping hand.
