Brenda Alevia Scales- Grandison was born January 21, 1953 in Hazen, Arkansas to the late Juanita Scales and George Scales. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Prairie Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and attended Gaines Street Baptist Church, then later joined St. Paul United Methodist Church. She attended Hazen High School in 1971, which was the first year of integration for African Americans to graduate together at Hazen High.
She later graduated from Draughon Business School and began employment with the state of Arkansas for 36 years in the Department of Finance and Administration. She retired from the state in June, 2013.
On June 9, 1978, she married the love of her life, Charles Grandison. To this union two of five children were born.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Scales, father, George Scales, three brothers, Ronnie, Donnie, Steve, and sister, Mary Kaye Roland.
Brenda was a faithful servant in ministry, the community, and devoted member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she served as a communion steward, usher ministry, pastor parish committee, and the youth department, along with a multitude of ministries. Her heart was for helping everyone in need and making them feel loved and special.
Brenda departed this life to live with her Savior on Friday, April 26. 2024, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband: Charles Grandison, three daughters: Cheree, Breanna (Maurice), Robyn; two sons: Robert Patrick, Donovan, and bonus daughter, Lindsey, all of Little Rock, AR., 19 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
