Bernice Armstrong

LITTLE ROCK

THIS IS HER STORY

“To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1

Bernice Armstrong was born August 15, 1944, in Walnut Corner, Arkansas, to the late Willie and Mary Burns. This would begin her journey in life that would fulfill her purpose. She departed this life on April 7, 2026, surrounded by her husband, Herbert Armstrong, children, and grandchildren.

Bernice confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She leaves a legacy of life according to God’s plan by doing good deeds for her family and friends. She never met a stranger, as she thoroughly enjoyed meeting and engaging with people. She left a remarkable impression on everyone she met.

Bernice enjoyed life, and she lived it to the fullest, dancing her way into the hearts of all those that knew and loved her. She loved cooking and was known for her sweet potato and buttermilk pies. A buttermilk pie recipe and holiday tradition that has been passed down to her great-granddaughter who doesn’t go a Thanksgiving without baking “Grandma Bernice’s Buttermilk Pie.”

She was a homemaker and loving mother, who spent several years raising her children, and a granddaughter that she made sure everyone knew she brought home from the hospital as her own. On September 1, 1995, Bernice united in marriage with Herbert Armstrong. For 30 years, Herbert has been a loving devoted husband, faithfully fulfilling those vows until the very end…. “til death do us part.”

She enjoyed shopping and had a special love for handbags…always desiring a new one. She was the patient in the hospital that clung to her purse, never letting it leave her side. The nurses knew that if they moved it to care for her, they knew how to put it right back next to her! One would have thought she possessed gold in it the way she held on to it.

Bernice was the last child of the Burns children. Also, preceding her in death daughter Ella (Nise) Brooks, and great-grandson Kra D’Angelo Brooks, Jr.

To cherish her memories, she leaves a loving and devoted husband, eight children, and a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many other beloved family members.
