Anthony Lynn "Tony" Mitchell, Sr. was born on May 25, 1961, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to the late Clifford Mitchell, Jr. and Blossie Vivian Mitchell. As the son of a military family, Tony developed an easygoing spirit and warm personality that helped him connect with people from all walks of life.
At an early age, Tony confessed his faith in Jesus Christ at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor C.B. Knox. He graduated from the historic Little Rock Central High School in May of 1979.
Tony had a lifelong love for football, basketball, and music. Whether he was watching a game, talking sports, or enjoying his favorite songs, these simple pleasures reflected his laid-back, fun-loving spirit.
Tony will be remembered for his kind heart, warm smile, and gentle nature. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Mitchell, Jr., and Blossie Vivian Mitchell, and his brother, Steven A. Mitchell.
Tony's memory will forever be cherished by his children: Chynna Harshaw, Lakesha Williams, Tishan Jackson (Steve), Dacha Mitchell, Anthony Mitchell, Jr., and Steven D. Mitchell; his grandchildren: Caleb Stokes, Kourtney Sims, Terric McDaniels, Tyra Williams, Callie Foster, Kivy Harshaw, Anthony Mitchell III, Mitchell Charles, Ethan Mitchell, Kadence Hayes, Ari Mitchell, Ava Mitchell, Blyss Walker, and Titus Pride; and his great-grandchildren: Caid Stokes, Rylie McDaniels, and Kaiden Lowery.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: Valerie Miles, David Mitchell, Sr. (Annette), Nathaniel Mitchell, all of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Gregory Mitchell (Sandy) of Jacksonville, Arkansas; his aunts, Vera Ross (James) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Gloria McClure of Curtis, Arkansas; his uncles, Phenoid McClure (Wilma) of Curtis, Arkansas, and Alvin Turner, Sr. of Little Rock, Arkansas; a special niece, Erika Thomas (Enice "Quentin") of Maryland; his special friend, Carolyn Williams; Two childhood friends: Efrem Wilson of Litte Rock, Arkansas and Clifton Taylor of Grand Praire, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
